We provide a One Year Warranty for most Laptops and Desktop PC’s with the ability to upgrade to two or three years. Our labor warranty is lifetime – once you buy from CPI, we are here to help you for life. All other items we sell come with limited warranty as stated in the product description. Our warranty is designed to provide peace of mind for customers, letting them know that we are ready to give you the help you need.
At CompuPoint Inc. (CPI) we are dedicated to supplying reliable, durable and low cost refurbished brand name computers to the Canadian and US marketplace. We take great pride in our products and reputation and are dedicated to our customer’s complete satisfaction. Every system we sell must pass stringent refurbishment specifications. This includes an extensive functional test to ensure systems meet factory specifications and a thorough cleaning and wipe down. Refurbished systems may have some minor cosmetic imperfections, but they will not affect the performance of the system.
What is covered by this limited warranty?
This limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship in the hardware products sold by CPI on a part-by-part basis.
What is NOT covered by this limited warranty?
This limited warranty does not cover:
Software, including the operating system (if any), trial software (if any) and pre-loaded software (if any).
Problems that result from:
- External causes such as accident, abuse, misuse, or problems with electrical power
- Servicing not authorized by CPI
- Usage that is not in accordance with product instructions
- Failure to follow the product instructions or failure to perform preventive static-maintenance
- Problems caused by using accessories, parts, or components not supplied by CPI
- Products with missing or altered Service Tags or serial numbers
- Products for which CPI has not received payment or are being disputed
- Products damaged by misuse, abuse, riot, vandalism, theft, fire, flood, wind, lightning, freezing, power failure, power reduction, telephone failure or acts of God
- Cost of installation, removal or re-installation of this product or any component of the product
- Expendable items such as batteries, laptop batteries/power adapters, toner cartridges and other operating supplies
- Purely cosmetic scratches, dents or other similar damages
WE DO NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY BEYOND THE REMEDIES PROVIDED FOR IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY OR FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY LIABILITY FOR THIRD-PARTY CLAIMS AGAINST YOU FOR DAMAGES, FOR PRODUCTS NOT BEING AVAILABLE FOR USE, OR FOR LOST DATA OR LOST SOFTWARE. OUR LIABILITY WILL BE NO MORE THAN THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE PRODUCT THAT IS THE SUBJECT OF A CLAIM. THIS IS THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT FOR WHICH WE ARE RESPONSIBLE
How long does the limited warranty last? (Included with purchase)
This limited warranty lasts for the period as stated in the Product Description and begins on the date of purchase indicated on your invoice. The warranty period is not extended if we replace a warranted product or any part(s). CPI may change the availability of limited warranties, at its discretion, but any changes will not be retroactive. After this 60 day period, CPI DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
How long does the extended limited warranty last?(At additional cost)
The extended limited warranty ends 1/2/3 years from the order purchase date indicated on your invoice. The warranty period is not extended if we replace a warranted product or any part(s). CPI may change the availability of limited warranties, at its discretion, but any changes will not be retroactive. After this 1 (or 2) year period, CPI DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

What will CPI do?
If you call us with a technical issue at any time during the warranty period, we will first determine if the problem is covered under the limited warranty. If not, we will notify you of this determination. If the problem is covered under this limited warranty, we will attempt to diagnose and fix the problem over the phone. If a replacement part is necessary to fix the problem, we will ship you, at our cost, a refurbished replacement part. If the part is out of stock, we will either back order the part or issue you a credit for the refurbished market value of the defective part as determined by CPI. Such credit will fulfill our obligations under the limited warranty for the defective part. We will not ship to an address outside of the Canada. We will assist you in replacing the defective part with the replacement part over the phone if you call Customer Service. Once the replacement part is installed and your system is working properly, we may require you to send the defective part to us.
During the warranty period, CPI will repair or replace at its option, any defective products or parts at no additional charge, provided that the product is returned by carry-in or prepaid shipping to CPI. A purchase receipt will be required before warranty service is rendered. Once the product has been repaired or replaced CPI will pay to ship the product to the customer. If the product returned cannot be repaired or exchanged CPI reserves the right to replace the equipment with something of equal, similar or greater value.
NOTE: If you are shipping the product to us, it must be carefully packed, send prepaid, and adequately insured, and in the original packaging. Enclose your purchase receipt and a letter detailing the problem with RMA number. Before you ship the product(s) to us, make sure to back up the data on the hard drive(s) and any other storage device(s) in the product(s). Remove any confidential, proprietary, or personal information and removable media such as floppy disks, CDs, or PC Cards. We are not responsible for any of your confidential, proprietary, or personal information; lost or corrupted data; or damaged or lost removable media.
We use refurbished parts made by various manufacturers in performing under this warranty. All parts and systems are inspected and tested for quality. Replacement parts and systems are covered for the remaining period of the limited warranty for the product you bought. CPI owns all parts returned to CPI.
Lifetime Labor Warranty
While other computer stores push extended warranties or charge as much as $100 per hour for service, CPI Laptops and Desktop PC’s come with a lifetime limited labor warranty that entitles the Customer to free repair. If any component within your system ever fails, even after the original warranty has expired, CPI will provide labor free of charge for as long as you own your computer purchased from CPI.
Lifetime limited labor warranty entitles the owner of system purchased from CPI to free repair service beyond the time span of the limited system warranty, for the diagnosing and installation of replacement parts. The cost of new replacement parts will be paid for by the customer. This additional lifetime extended labor warranty shall not cover the repair of items not normally serviced by CPI. Specifically, the repair of individual component parts such as, disk drives, circuit boards, keyboards, memory products, cables and software are not covered by this warranty.
However, if the need for repair was due to customer negligence, misuse, usage not in accordance with product instructions, failure to perform required preventive maintenance, and problems caused by use of parts and components not supplied by CPI, CPI reserves the right to charge service fees at industry-standard hourly rates.
Under provisions of lifetime limited labor warranty Customer is responsible for shipping the system to and from CPI’s repair facilities. Customer is held responsible for a market price (at the time of repair) of the replacement part(s) needed to perform the repair upon expiration of the limited system warranty.
Lifetime Upgrade Policy
Most system CPI sells are designed for upgradeability, ensuring many years of enjoyment. If you ever want to upgrade or add new features to your system, simply purchase the part from any CPI location and we will provide the labor for free!
At CPI we are so sure you will be satisfied with your purchase that we have a policy called the 7-DAY GUARANTEE. If within 7 days of your purchase (from the invoice date ) you are not completely satisfied, we will refund your purchase for the total amount minus our shipping fees. Returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee on purchase price on invoice. Used items cannot be returned. Prior to any return, however, you must call customer service and request a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number. If you do not call customer service, your return may be rejected. To be eligible for return, the Products must be in the same condition as when shipped to Customer and all of the manuals, diskettes, power cords, software and other items included with the Products must also be returned. You must return the entire system to us in its original or equivalent packaging, prepay shipping charges, and insure the shipment or accept the risk if the product is lost or damaged in shipment.
Non Warranty Repair/Retest
Products returned due to damage, misuse or alterations and products retested with no problem found are subject to repair/retest charges at industry-standard hourly rates. A purchase order or credit card number and authorization must be provided in order to obtain an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number prior to returning Product.
